What is fibrinoid necrosis?

Fibrinoid necrosis is a type of tissue injury that happens inside a blood vessel. In fibrinoid necrosis, the cells in the blood vessel undergo a kind of cell death called necrosis and a specialized blood protein called fibrin leaks out of the blood and surrounding the injured tissue.

What causes fibrinoid necrosis?

Causes of fibrinoid necrosis include vasculitis (inflammation of blood vessels), hypertension (high blood pressure), and infections.
